Welcome & Photographs from WedCraft

Hello there!

I'm Georgia and I just want to welcome you to my new blog! I thought I would finally bite the bullet and start a blog to share various photoshoots, weddings and just general photographs that I take.

A little bit about me first though;

I am currently studying Contemporary Lens Media (Photography and Film) at the University of Lincoln, and I am in my second year. It's flown by already and I feel as if I have grown so much as a photographer over the past year and a half, and cannot wait to see where I will be once I've finished my degree.

I love to photograph weddings - or anything to do with them! Therefore my current project (which is documentary based) is on all the elements that come together to make up a wedding. From wedding fayres (which the rest of this post will be about) to ring shopping, glassware hire, dress fittings, the cake, the flowers etc, the list is pretty much endless! I am a hopeless romantic, and that is why I love photographing weddings!

Anyway I'm sure I'll post more about me in the future, but to move on to what I photographed today.

"Where crafty brides meet creative minds"

I found out about WedCraft while looking into other wedding related events that were happening around Lincoln so that I could photograph them for my documentary project. I saw that this event was happening and it was so up my street; vintage & crafty, two things I love.

Because it was such a unique event and nothing I have come across before I decide to get in touch to ask if I could photograph at the event, and I got a yes. (Wahoo!)

I had never been to the Lincolnshire Showground before, but it was lovely. The building WedCraft was held in was lovely, open and airy and was great to take photographs in.

My first stop was to The Wedding Tree who make bespoke wooden wedding products that are just beautiful!

Next was Summer Pudding who make bespoke button bouquets, bunting and vintage teacup candles.

I photographed them while they were giving a demonstration on how to make favours - cute little button flowers.

And while I was reviewing my photographs, the lovely Karen from Darby & Joan asked me to take photographs of her table. Again something so up my street - Vintage china & accessory hire (I can't help but love a nice floral cake stand!)

We had a lovely conversation about what she does and our love for everything vintage!

It definitely improves my confidence as a photographer to go to events like this and talk to people, because I have found that I've always struggled with this. It's almost as if there is a stigma involved when you are holding a camera, however I have to remember that people are lovely and are mostly open to have their photograph taken! And this event has just boosted that confidence in me.

So with my new found confidence I went over and talked to the band that was playing; The Shannon Reilly Trio

They were really sweet, played such good music and Shannon has such a beautiful voice!

Then on my final stop I took photographs of a lady in a wedding dress, from a shop that I pass on my way to university. I've always loved their window display, so it was lovely to talk to the women involved in the store.

So that was my day - second Sunday in a row I have gone to a wedding fayre, and really enjoyed it.

Therefore I am making a promise to myself that I will complete a photoshoot, whether that be with a model, for my documentary project, a wedding or where I just take my camera out and shoot what ever I feel like, at least once a week. I set this as a goal at the end of my last university year, however I have not really stuck to it, but that is going to change!

See you next photoshoot!
