Project one!

Hey everyone,

During my last year at University, I hope to blog about my experiences/planning/photoshoots/behind the scenes, so that not only do I have something online to look back on but hopefully you find it interesting too!

I've started to gather and finalise my ideas for my first project of the year. It has to be suitable for an exhibition, and my aim is to have some beautiful large prints to show off my work!

My boyfriend was a major help with this idea and I am so thankful for him, he is my inspiration and is amazing to talk to and expand ideas!

I've started a few new Pinterest boards, so that I can add to them, as I find pieces of inspiration such as make up ideas, hair, styling and props!

To have a browse through my Pinterest click right here!

I am so excited for this year and cannot wait to show the work I produce!

Third and final year

Hey everyone,

I just want to reflect back on my time at University, as I start my third and final year of my degree. The past two years of my life have flown by and I have mostly enjoyed every minute!

There have been some hard times with my degree, but it has been (and will be) completely worth it. Photography is my biggest passion in life and I can't wait to finish this year to fully immerse myself in a full-time career.

My first year at University was a bit of a culture shock! My boyfriend and I were living alone for the first time, I had just finished a gap year and had gotten used to not being in education and I finally got to full concentrate on what I wanted to do...Photography!

My favourite project from that year had to be the "Beautiful People" project. I finally managed to get into the studio, (which I loved doing while I was in Sixth Form) and gain more experience and confidence!

One of my beautiful models!

We also completed a project entitled, "Workers" and for this I picked my boyfriend's place of work, the LPAC!

In pretty much a blink the first year was over and then I was onto my second year. This was even better than my first year a University. My lovely boyfriend and I moved into our first proper flat, away from student accommodation and the projects we were given had even more scope to be changed to suit our interests and what we wanted to do after University.

Narrative was the first brief given to us. What a big topic it was! I chose to photograph a narrative based on an abandoned bride. This was probably my biggest challenge to date, as I set a goal pretty high in my head and didn't quite reach it. However this was a good thing, because I learnt from it and will take that on with me into this coming year.

My complete and utter favourite project so far, has to be the documentary project. I based it all around weddings (and you can find out more about it, if you read back on my blog!) I did well in this project and I am very proud of it. I put a lot of myself into it and so much passion and that paid off!

It truly confirmed to me that wedding photography is what I want to do. Of course I am open to other types of photography (and I will be exploring that this year) but weddings are beautiful, happy and wonderful occasions that I love being a part of.

So that was my first two years of University. I cannot wait to get stuck into my work this year and I am sure it will appear on my blog.

This is the year to push myself. To do big things. To live and breathe photography, because that is what I love.

Nikki...again!

Hey everyone,

Today's post features my lovely friend Nikki, again! It's become a sort of tradition to meet up each time we are both back in Norwich for our summer holiday and for me to take photographs of her.

This stemmed from me always using her as one of my models for my A Level photography work. However it was nice this time not to make her dress up/put a lot of make-up on/be part of an odd idea I had for one of my projects.

This photograph is just her.

My friend.

Nikki.

Catch up

Hey everyone,

Here I am posting another post about how I haven't blogged in ages...sorry!!

But just a quick catch up about my summer, now that it is winding down and beginning to get cold outside.

As from my last post, I have been working again this summer, but tomorrow is my last day at work, I just can't believe how quickly it has gone, so thank you to Holly for having me back.

But the most exciting thing about my summer was getting to go to a very important place to my boyfriend (and of course his family too) and that was Hungary. My boyfriend was born and lived there before moving to England, and I'm glad he did, because I got to meet him! Anyway, Hungary was beautiful and made me appreciate my boyfriend and his background. I felt so blessed to be able to share this with him and I cannot wait to go back next year.

Lake Balaton, Hungary

I have also been planning projects for my final (!) year at university, but also my dissertation, so don't be surprised if a lot of posts pop up with details about those things, as I have so many ideas that I want to make a reality.

And finally, I turned 21!

So that's it for our quick catch up, I'll hopefully post again really soon, but until then you can find me on my boyfriend's blog, But You Didn't Hear it From Us.

Where have I been!?

Hello everyone!

It's been such a long time since I've blogged any of my photography, naughty naughty!

However I am photographing Keeley and Dean's wedding on Saturday, so I am sure I will feature that on here as a sneak peek for them!

But in other news, I am back home in Norwich, which is lovely as I have been catching up with friends, but I am also back working at House of Fraser! Luckily I am not overloading myself with work, so I do have time to complete the shoots I want before I go back to University in September.

The next big shoot, after the wedding of course, will be with Bella and her friend's horse! Which I am really looking forward to. I'm even going to be making the dress that she is wearing, and I'll be sure to blog about it when it happens!

But until then you can still catch me on my lovely boyfriend's blog, But You Didn't Hear It From Us

I've missed blogging!

Hey everyone,

So it's been a little while since I've blogged, and the black and white post is coming soooon!

Some great news...If you've seen my Facebook page you'll have seen that I got a FIRST for my documentary project :D (<-- my face) I was so unbelievably happy when I found out in my end of year tutorial and just so glad that for a project I put a lot of work into it, I got a really good grade to reflect how I felt about the project!

Moving on from that, I have been using my camera, so I am keeping up with at least one shoot a week! I've been photographing some of the drama and dance assessments at the LPAC here in Lincoln (my boyfriend also works there!) and I'm sure I'll post some of them too when I have finished processing them.

I am second shooting at a wedding next week - which is a first for me (well second, but my first was with my boyfriend dad, who is awesome!) and I am really looking forward to it. I love shooting weddings by myself, because I get into the "zone" but it's going to be good to learn from someone else, which in turn will help me improve the weddings I shoot myself!

I have also been planning a lot of shoots for the summer. Again featuring Nikki and Bella - but I am also looking to work with other models, so if you are a model or know anyone who would be interested please get in contact! I will be posting up details of the shoots pretty soon, so keep an eye out for them! I think they should be pretty fun, and I will more than likely use them for projects for the third year at uni!

Hopefully I won't leave it so long between posts this time - and new work should be up soon!

Ferenc

Hey everyone!

I feel as if I haven't posted in a long time! But I just want to say thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read my blog! I am on just over 1000 views now, and that makes me so happy!

This post is about my boyfriend, Ferenc! In his lunch break yesterday we managed to fit in a quick shoot in the studio - my first time back in the studio since my course moved buildings, and it felt really good!

Other than me wanting to get back into the studio, the photoshoot had another purpose! Ferenc's blog BYDHIFU , which is a film review blog (and so much more!) is also well about 1000 views now and rising each day! He wanted a photograph for his profile picture, so I was more than happy to take one.

So here he is! Ferenc!

This is the first photograph that I took and I'm sure more will be appearing soon.

As you can tell I love black and white, so my next blog post is going to be about the importance of black and white and why you should take full control of the way you use it!

Talk soon!

Martin & Clare

Hi everyone,

Today's post is all about Martin & Clare's wedding on the 12th April 2013!

Leading up to their day, I loved Clare's posts on my Facebook Page counting down to their wedding, because this was a wedding I was really looking forward to!

I photographed the final stages of Clare getting ready at their home, before heading over to their ceremony location. And I have to say it was one of the nicest registry offices I have ever been to!

Not only was it beautiful from the outside (and the perfect backdrop for the portraits!) but it was perfect inside too!

Martin and his best man, Matt, waiting for Clare to arrive.

Clare waiting outside the registry office - wondering if she should get driven around again!

Martin waiting for his bride - I love this photograph, not only because Martin looks so happy but reminds me of the music not starting and having to wait a little while before Martin got the first glimpse of Clare.

And finally Martin sees his Bride! I just love this photograph - Martin's face says it all, and Clare..she's so sweet! As soon as she saw Martin she had to try so hard to hold her (happy) tears in! I remember hear her whispering, "Mind the make-up!"

One of my favourite photographs from the ceremony!

Exchange of rings

And of course, the kiss!

The new Mr & Mrs Edwards

Martin and his brother

Clare, her sister and niece

After the beautiful ceremony, and the family portraits was a few moments for Clare and Martin to be alone (with me photographing!) just to enjoy their time together, being married. I find this is such an important time, because of the whirlwind of guests, congratulations and organisation of family portraits, a tiny bit of time together is just what is needed!

And after the bride and groom portraits it was a short drive to their reception.

This is the first reception that I had photographed within a pub. But it just wasn't any old pub - it was beautiful, full of history, including the low beams (hence the comments that they could have picked a bigger pub and that it was the perfect height for Martin!)

While light was tricky in some parts of the building, the shots next to the windows were just perfect, and below is one of my favourite portraits of Clare.

A beautiful moment during the speeches.

And a congratulations and toast from Clare's father.

Overall I loved photographing Martin and Clare's wedding day. Not only were their family and friends just so lovely and welcoming, Martin and Clare were friendly, kind and so easy to photograph.

Thank you both for letting me photograph your beautiful day.

I wish you all the happiness in the world

Memory

Hi everyone!

This week is DEADLINE week! Eeep!

Two big projects are due in this week, one tomorrow and one on Thursday. So it's busy, busy, busy for me (especially today!)

But I thought I would share some of the work I have for the project due in on Thursday for my experimental work. It is all based on memory and the idea that you may remember the photograph rather than the detail and actual memory behind the photograph!

I'm overlaying photographs together, photographs from my childhood and more recent ones. The photograph above is from Paris when I was around 11 and the older photographer...not quite sure how old I was there, but I sure did have a...lovely smile!

I certainly remember the trip to Paris, not just due to this photograph. But maybe part of that memory is triggered by seeing the photograph. As for the other one...not a clue!

My sister and I! Again I have no clue about either photograph and what situation they were taken in, but my memory associated with these photographs is the outfit we were wearing! I distinctly remember that outfit, so I'm pretty sure I'm not just remembering it due to the photographs.

My sister again. This time I remember both of the situations of the photograph. The more recent one I took about two weeks ago! The older one was a trip to London, and I have a lot of memories outside of this image.

And finally my mum and I! This has to be my favourite one, I love the combination of colour and black&white (and plus I love my mum!)

Again I remember the recent photograph more so than the older one, which is located in Spain. For that holiday I definitely remember feeding cats outside of our villa most days!

So that was an insight into something a little bit different. They aren't my usual style, but it is nice to go through my childhood photographs and remembering!

Pure

Hi everyone!

Today's post is a selection of the photographs from Pure - I just wanted to say thank you for Gemma for letting me photograph within the boutique! It was literally so perfect for not only my project, but for my friend Amy to try on some beautiful dresses!

Anyway onto my favourite photographs!

I've walked past Pure before while I was home in Norwich and always thought it looked so beautiful! I, obviously, am not getting married (not just yet!) but this was definitely one of the best bridal boutiques I had seen, and I really wanted to be able to have a look around at the beautiful dresses.

So when I knew the subject of my documentary project I began to think of which bridal dress store to pick to ask if I were able to photograph within their store. Pure jumped into my mind, but as I live in Lincoln during term time I had to wait until I was able to go home to Norwich to photograph there!

I called Gemma and we arranged a time for not only me to photograph, but for my lovely friend Amy (Seen above on the left) to try on wedding dresses, as she is engaged! It worked out as a lovely catch up for us, including Nikki (middle) and Bella (right) as we had all gone to sixth form together!

We all had a browse through the dresses and Amy picked which five or so, she wanted to try on. The beauty above is the first one and our reaction was great! We all loved the dress! Even Nikki had a little tear because Amy looked so beautiful in the dress!

I must admit though that this is still my favourite dress that she tried on and after reviewing the photographs of all dresses this one stands out to me the most! So simple, classy and pretty, with just enough detail to make it just stunning!

The next dress she tried on was a beauty too! It had a detachable train - however this one did not button onto the dress, but it tied around her waist with a lovely bow (which can be matched to the colour of the bridesmaid's dresses!) I loved this one, the lace, the detail of the train and the versatility was perfect. The photograph above has to be one of my favourite that I took throughout the whole shoot!

Again this is the same dress as the previous photograph, but from behind to see the train. The dress was paired with a beautiful veil, to match the lace in the dress.

Overall it was such a great experience, not only did I get to see my wonderful friend try on dresses but this will really complete my project!

So thank you again to Pure but also thank you to Amy, Nikki and Bella! I had a wonderful time with you ladies!

And men - if you don't care about dresses then not to worry, Pure also stock a range of suits too!

You'll find these in the Groom Room - complete with comfy chairs!

So that's all for this blog post, I imagine the next one up will be a more in depth look at Clare & Martin's wedding.

See you then,

Georgia

Sneak Peek - Martin & Clare

Hey everyone,

Here's a sneak peek of Martin and Clare's wedding photographs from yesterday! I have spent a good hour and a half looking through all the photographs I took and made a very long and lovely list of ones that I will edit!

But for now, until I am ready to post a set of finished photographs is two sneak peeks!

The new Mr & Mrs Edwards!

I love the moody sky!

So that's it for now, but there will be more appearing up here on the blog, but also on my Facebook page.

The next post will probably be from the bridal boutique, as I am editing those photographs now to include in my final documentary work!

My sister!

Hey,

I'm back in Lincoln again after a really lovely week and a half at home. During that time my sister and I kept saying we would do a shoot, but things kept coming up! So we managed to get one in just before I drove back to Lincoln and I literally do mean, just!

I haven't had much time to look through the images but I have one favourite so far, so here she is, my little sister, Maddy.

Being away from her at uni is hard, because I am missing the most exciting parts of her growing up, but it's great to go back during holidays to spend time with her because we're definitely a lot closer now.

Maddy, if you're reading this (and you better be,) I love you and thank you for just being you. You're the best sister I could ever wish for!

So that is my shoot for this week; finally one that isn't related to my documentary project! However speaking of it (I can't resist) the bridal boutique shoot went very well, I've just looked through the shots and I have a lot I'm very happy with!

But also on the wedding front I am shooting Clare and Martin's wedding on Friday, my first of this wedding season! I cannot wait! I will be posting sneak peaks up on here but also on my Facebook page probably a couple of days after the wedding.

I'll see you guys then,

Georgia

Libby Ferris Flowers

Hi everyone,

Here are the photographs from my shoot yesterday at Libby Ferris Flowers here in Norwich. Libby was lovely, as were her team! So I just want to say thank you to them for letting me photograph them while they were creating bouquets, button holes and corsages for a wedding.

While Libby was creating the bouquet seen above, we had a really love chat about what she does, and why! She is very highly focused on quality, not just of her flowers (which are beautiful) but of her service to her customers. I really admire this, as it is too easy to not focus on giving each and every customer the attention they deserve.

But Libby and her lovely ladies are wonderful at this. The care and attention I not only saw, but also discussed with Libby, was amazing and something I always try to strive to with the way I work.

I also really enjoyed watching and photographing their beautiful creations! With ease they created bouquets and button holes, and I was very impressed!

So if you are getting married, or simply want to treat a loved one to a stunning bouquet and you live in Norwich definitely pay a visit to Libby and her team!

Wahoo, another shoot complete! I'm very much looking forward to Monday and getting to photograph at Pure, not only do I love weddings, but I really love wedding dresses!

The photographs for that will probably be up on Tuesday, as straight after that shoot I am heading back to University in Lincoln!
